This year, International Women’s Day is shining a valuable light on the many biases women face day-to-day, both at work and in wider society with their #BreakTheBias campaign.
But it’s also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the successes and accomplishments of women, many of whom will face countless obstacles but achieve great things nonetheless.
We asked Nicola Alvarez, Senior Manager Mortgage Distribution - Proposition Development at Accord Mortgages, what International Women’s Day means to her, and she is keen for it to be a chance to recognise and celebrate the successes of women, not just in the workplace, but in everyday life too.
“There are women all over the world doing amazing things, rising to challenges and making a real difference every single day, being great role models and inspiring others,” Nicola says.
“It’s also a day to take time to reflect on our own individual journeys and achievements, thinking of those who helped us on that journey and the opportunity we have to do that for others.”
